P1502 - Idle Speed Control Aux Inputs
 

What could P1502 - Idle Speed Control Aux Inputs

mean to a 2001 Hyundai Elantra?? I get a check engine light. I am afraid
to take to the dealer since they would rip me off if it is not warranty
covered. (with a diagnostic charge of $93 as well)

COuld you please help me if it could be something warranty covered??

I took the car to the dealer. I was told that the "Wheel Speed Sensor" is
bad and they are going to replace it. Seems like warranty would cover it.

No surprises with customer service! As usual, rental car was denied, rude
replies to my questions and do not care attitude.

The main reason I would not buy a Hyundai again is beause of the customer
service. So pathetic!

Are you referring to Hyundai Customer Assistance at the 800# or the
personnel at the dealership?

I am referring to the dealership. NONE of the hyundai dealers around my
area have good personnel in the service.

Attitude and rude questions should not be accepted. Your combat against
this is to not take the car to the dealer for maintenance or anything else
that's not covered by the warranty. But be careful about buying another
brand vehicle just because of this. There's no indication that any
dealers for the other makes of vehicle will be any better.

As for the loaner/rental car, unless you have an extended warranty which
specifically covers that, Hyundai does not provide this within their
warranty coverage, so the dealer was in fact not failing to provide you
something you should have received from Hyundai. Other makes may well
provide for a replacement vehicle in their warranty, so you may achieve
what you desire on this front by switching vehicle brands.

I agree with you that he was not declining something which Hyundai
provided. He was right in saying that. Listen to what he said at around 10
in the morning on Monday:
"Leave the car right here and I will order the parts overnite".
I said "Is the car in drivable condition so that I can keep myself on the
roads till this evening. Since you are not providing rental, let me take
my car and hit my office and return the car tonite so that you can work on
it tomorrow".
He goes " No sir. THe car has to be right here. Lot of people promise and
dont turn up. I can overnite ONLY if the car is here"
I said "I understand Sir. I am promising to return the car by evening and
kindly overnite the parts. The only reason I am taking car is because you
are not providing the rental car"
He said "Sir, I told you clearly. If you leave the CAR as such, I will
overnite. Otherwise it will take ONE WEEK"

I am not exaggerating any statements here. This was exactly what he said.


I could have immediately spoke to his service manager. I am just patient
to get my car completely get fixed and after that take it up with his
service manager.

I am paying two days car rent out of my pocket.

I doubt if Hyundai customer service will even be patient to here and do
something about it ?

The dealer gets charged a fee if they overnight parts. It's almost never
done at my dealer. It shouldn't take a week, either. Your dealer can
emergency order parts overnight, but they'll be charged a 15% surcharge
for which Hyundai will not reimburse them. They can also regular order
them with no surcharge, but if the order is put in by 3PM, the parts
should arrive in two days. There was little reason why you couldn't take
the car and just return when the parts came in. I'm not sure what good it
would have done you, though. I figure no matter how you slice it, you're
still looking at two days of alternate transportation.

Hyundai's position is that the dealer should only overnight essential
parts. I can understand the position that they won't overnight if you
won't leave the vehicle. In effect, if that's the case, then the parts
weren't really essential. Mostly, it sounds like the dealer did a really
crappy job of explaining their reasoning and procedure but that they were
interested in returning your car to you in as timely a manner as possible
if you were willing to leave it there.

Hyundai's customer assistance line will usually take your complaint and
create a case on which a nearby dealer (probably the one you're at) will
be requested to follow up. It's a good idea to speak to the service
manager as early as possible when difficulties arise. After the fact,
there's little they can do. The most you can get now is a rental
reimbursement. If you had spoken to the service manager, it's possible he
may have overnighted the parts anyway.

Thanks very much for taking pain in explaining things. I will try to reach
hyundai customer service cell and explain.

BTW, they fixed the sensor today. But, some other problem now. Car gives
quite a bit of noise when accelerating and decelerating. When I took it
back again and cehcked with him, he said "rear bearings are loose". He
said he will order parts and asked me to fix next week.

I planned to pull his service manager and report about his attitude. Good
that I was resisitng my temper. Let the whole issue get solved and I am
going to take it up.
