Problems filling 1998 Lantra
Bought a 1998 Lantra a few months ago for commuting to work and I have a
problem putting the petrol in. When I put the nozzle in the spout, it either clicks straight away, and won't let me fill, or fills until it overflows down the side of the car and all over my shoes and doesn't click/stop when it's full. On the other hand, sometimes it fills fine without any problem at all. Is it (a) operator error, (b) something wrong with the fuel hole in the car, or (c) faulty fuel nozzle at the petrol station? I don't always fill at the same place, but have had this problem at multiple petrol stations. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Aroleon |

Re: Problems filling 1998 Lantra
Is this a U.S. car? I believe there was a recall in the U.S. for the ORVR
valve in the tank. I don't know whether this valve is for U.S. emissions only or in all cars. The recall in the U.S. was to cure the exact symptom you are describing. |

Be sure to ask them to check for recalls as well as giving them a
description of the condition you are experiencing. I don't know whether Austrailian models have the same evaporative system. |

I have the same problem with my 96 Lantra Wagon (in Australia). Service Agent in Sale, Victoria (Wights Hyundai) said that they were not able to replace the inlet and that the problem was that pumps these days pump faster than cars are designed to take the fuel?
