I dont actually have one of the manuals that explains this code but
according to research it appears to be a sensor related to the transmission (dont quote
me on this.) This is what I could pull from a generic list.

P1624: MIL Request Signal from TCM to ECM
P1624: MIL Request Signal active

Re: 2000 Elantra "check engine" light

Hello,

I am looking at the shop manual and the previous replies are correct.

1. This sensor measures the temperature of the transmission fluid. When the
computer 'knows' this temperature it can anticipate shift timing better
because the fluid viscosity is approximately known.

2. P0713 - FLUID TEMPERATURE SENSOR SYSTEM - OPEN. The connector may have
fallen off the sensor or the wire broke or the sensor 'opened' internally.
Ref. P. AT-21 ( 2000 Shop Manual )

3. On page AT-69 item 2, they start to call it an 'Oil Temperature sensor
(same 'Fluid Sensor' sensor from page AT-21.

4. Its a 2 pin sensor. I have not found it yet.

5. I'd get it looked at, not a big deal. The computer just isn't able to
shift as smoothly, maybe that will put more wear and tear on it?
