Rust proofing
I live in an area where roads are salted in the winter. Is rust
proofing a good idea on a 2008 Elantra? ---MIKE--- >>In the White Mountains of New Hampshire >> (44° 15' N - Elevation 1580') |

Ahh, so that's why my wife wants ME to move there. -- dumb ass webtv subscriber |

Is rust proofing a good idea on a 2008 Elantra? ---MIKE--- Remember Rust Jones? Rustproofing done wrong can cause more problems that it prevents. Care are made pretty well today with galvanized steel and good paint, but I don't have specifics on the Elantra. The warranty is pretty good though 7 YEAR / UNLIMITED MILES ANTI-PERFORATION WARRANTY Covers rust-related corrosion of body sheet metal. Covers 7 years unlimited miles starting with 2005 Model Year (previously 5 year/100,00 Miles for 2004 and prior model years). Covers perforation (rust hole through the body panel from inside to outside) corrosion of original Hyundai body sheet metal due to defects in material or factory workmanship, under normal use and maintenance. Excludes surface corrosion |

One of the first steps in painting a car now is to electrocoat it by dipping the chassis in an electrically charged solution that completely covers the metal. I'm just about due south of you at 42 30 and I don't know anyone that gets rustproofing. Heck, I thought all those companies were long gone. |
Re: Rust proofing
Pretty sure it would invalidate the manufactures rust warranty.

It's something of a waste these days, but that's a different matter. -- -Mike- mmarlowREMOVE@windstream.net |

That could be a reason to deny a claim. |
