Santa Fe 2004 Bearing Noise at start up 3.5L
Has anyone experienced bearing chatter at startup?
See my notes below: a) Slight bearing noise on startup, goes away after few seconds. This occurs frequently during mornings after sitting in garage overnight b) 3 times, after 2 days avg sitting in garage, severe bearing noise and tapping, squeal and smoke visable and smells. Car was turned off and restarted OK. It sounds like timing between the crank and cam are not in sync, but somehow comes into sync. Is this electronically controlled where it could settle out of place, or is it a timing belt system? Poor oil feeds/pressure? |

Could be just about anything. The valve timing is not variable.
1. Call your dealer to see if there are any recalls. Some 2004 Santa Fes had an imperfection on the block surface. If Hyundai suspects your vehicle may have this problem, the dealer will run a procedure to determine if this imperfectioin is present and replace the cylinder block if necessary. 2. If there is no recall, call your dealer and set up an appointment to leave it sit there for a few days so they can experience the problem. |
