Has anyone heard of any problems with santa fe 2 wheel drive models with
automatic transmissions.
Or dislikes for the santa fe it self.

No chronic problems. I think I've replaced one transmission in eight
months. Were you having a specific problem?

Do you recommend changing the tranny fluid after 25K on an automatic?
Not that anything is wrong, but somebody told me it's a very wise thing
to do with any automatic.

My personal opinion is every two years - if you do not have a
full flow filter.

I don't know, do I? I have what the Sf came with, it's a 2002 4Wd automatic.

Re: santa fe

It only has a nonserviceable screen. I'd recommend every 30k, but the
fluid often becomes quite gross before then. Once it's turned dark brown,
I'd recommend a complete fluid exchange. Hyundai says it's ok, but
compared to the cost of a transmission, I'd still go for the fluid
exchange. Be SURE to use SPIII fluid.

Do I have to go to a dealer? If I do it elsewhere will I void the
warranty? And also, is SPIII a brand or a kind of fluid?
Thanks for your help.

Re: santa fe

Just about anyone can do the work of draining and refilling the
transmission for you. They may not have the SPIII fluid, however. The
only places I know for certain that you can get it are Hyundai and Kia
dealers. SPIII is a type of fluid, not a brand.
