Seat belts
 

I have 2 - 07 Santa Fe's. Both have a problem with the snap in portion of
the seat belt, on the passenger side rear seat. Rather than rigidly sitting
up so the belt can be inserted, they must be held in place while inserting
the belt. One of them has now found itself deeply buried below the seat
level.

I've tried to extract it with needle nosed pliers but have been unsuccessful
so far.

Isn't there some mechanism that is supposed to hold the receptors in place
while inserting the seat belt??? How can I get the buried receptor back to
an usable position??

If I recall correctly, there's a fabric loop through which the seat
belt buckle is to be held.

Yes indeed there is a fabric loop, but it is much larger than the receptible
piece. I don't see how it is used to secure the piece. Any clarification
for me on this?

What about retrieving the part now buried deeply in the bowels of the seat?

Can't you just reach in there and pull it out?

Not on the first 50 tries I haven't. It is really buried. Tried with long
nose pliers and unable to get it into position to extract it.

(May need to try another 50 times. Hoping there is a way to push it back
up, but unable to find it yet.)

Well, finally got the receptable out of the bowels of the seat. Tried
reaching below the seat and pushing it back up, but my arm too big. Got my
better half to come give it a try.

After many attempts, and by using my finger to keep the edge of the
receptible from going past the opening, we were able to get it back in
place.
