Slight Trannie fluid drip
 

Open Question --
I have a 2000 Sonata GLS V6 auto.

It has developed a vwey slight drip leak of trannie fluid.

Are there any easy fixes for that or does it most likely require
removing the trannie for a seal replacement?

In that case does the drive train warranty cover it.
I am the original owner and the car has 69,000 miles

Where is it leaking? If its at the drain plug (and you've had it off
lately) the washer could need replacing. Mine did that after the 3rd tranny
drain and fill.
New washer was all it needed.

The leak appears to coming at the point where the trannie casing and
the engine block join together.

Could be an axle seal-- they'll sometimes run the fluid down to the bottom
of the bell housing. Otherwise, it's probably the front seal as you
surmise. Either way, it should be covered under the 10 year/100k
warranty.

Also be on the lookout for leakage where the cooler tubes bolt onto the
radiator. This is a popular area for transmission fluid leaks for Sonatas
of your vintage. It's not covered under the powertrain warranty, and I've
seen several cars mix coolant and transmission fluid. If you develop this
problem, replace the radiator immediately.
