Sonata Tyre Wear.

Hi,
I purchased a new V6 Sonata 2 years ago. Very pleased with it. Only gripe is
the front tyre wear. 15000 miles on the clock and the front tyres need
replacing. Tyre wear is even suggesting no tracking problems. They are the
original Michelins on 16inch wheels. Is this wear premature? Going to
replace with Perelli. Any comments?

Nick.

Yeah, the stock Michelin tires are pretty bad. Go read the reviews up
on TireRack, they're used by several OEMs and are universally
considered to be pure crap. I plan on replacing mine in about a month
with some Yokohama H4S tires, they're much better.

How often did you have them rotated? Front wheel drive vehicle needs a
rotation at least every 6,000 miles.

I have to agree about the tires. The Yokohamas I put on there were much
better. I got mine at Discount tire.

I had mine rotated at 7500 and at 1500. Tire wear is even on all 4
tires. There is still some tread left but after abot 12000 miles I
started sliding all over the place on wet roads. I don't even want to
know what they'll be like when it snows. That is the same experience
that most of the people on TireRack have had. I give them about
another 2000-3000 miles before they're completely bare. That would
put me at 17K-18K miles on the car.

I had Michelin tyres 205/60 R16 on my Sonata and they lasted for 53.000 Km
(33.000 miles) making regular inversion front-rear every 10.000 miles; now I
am running my 2nd set of Michelin and I find they are good tyres.
probably Pirelly are more lasting but also more noisy. Besides, the205/60
r16 size with V code is made only by Michelin and may be other 1 or 2
brands, are you sure that Pirelli makes them?

I have a 3 year old 2002 Sonata, changed the Mitchelin's at 81k, they were
