Sticking Clutch?

Hi All,
I hope someone can help (: My daughter's 1995 Accent seems to have a
clutch problem. She states that the clutch seems to stick. The clutch
goes all the way to the floor and won't come back up; she is not able to
shift gears. This just started yesterday and today it has not happened
so far.
What should she be looking for? BTW, the manual is "safely put away" and
she doesn't remember the safe place.
I sure hope someone can point me in the right direction, so I want have
to do extra driving to get her and my grandson to and fro.
Thanks in advance for your valued consideration.

Have A Good One!

The manual won't do you any good. It sounds like you've got a serious
problem with the clutch system. Either that, or the fluid is really low.
Either way, the clutch needs to be checked out and bled at the very
least. Get the car to a dealer or repair shop and get it fixed.

Re: Sticking Clutch?

I'm not 100% sure on this model year but I think it has a hydraulic
clutch. In other words the pedal moves fluid through the lines to
make the actual clutch move. Just like modern brake systems work.
If it is simmilar to my accent ( an 01). Have her check the brake
and clutch fluid.

If she opens the hood and looks in the corner nearest the drivers door
there will be two white containers with black lids. The brake fluid
is in the bottle that is kinda square shaped. The clutch fluid is the
one that is round. Both bottles have markings on them to indicate if
the fluid is high or low.

If the problem hasn't returned perhaps it was a little air bubble in
the line. Either way she should have it checked out so she doesn't
get stranded.

There may have been some clutch master cylinders with this vehicle. I
can't remember which specific years had the issue.
