Tranny problem...maybe
'06 Sonata GLS V6 AT. Had my first transmission "misfire" on the way home
tonight. Was using the manual shifter, going from 2nd to 3rd. Pushed up on the lever and it went to neutral!! Took a second, and without touching anything, it went to 3rd and gave me a bit of a jolt. I never touched the lever after the initial shift and looked to make sure I hadn't gone to neutral myself by accident. I continued manually shifting all the way home and didn't have another problem. Normally, after this area I was in, I use "D" for the remainder of the highway trip, but I wanted to see if I could reproduce it. When I got home, I checked the tranny fluid and it was fine. Hyundaitech (or anyone else for that matter), any ideas? Should I just take it in to check for a code, or wait to see if it was a fluke? Eric |
Re: Tranny problem...maybe
Your choice on whether to take it in. If there's a trouble code, they may
be able to find the problem. If not, you've done nothing more than document that you say you had a problem unless they can duplicate it. |

Even one more time and I am going to take it in. |

Re: Tranny problem...maybe
no answers, but I was wondering if this happened under hard acceleration-
were you pedal to metal?....did it race when it hit neutral? |

It wasn't pedal to the metal, but it was about half-throttle. The engine did get a chance to rev to about 6000 RPM (maybe more) before I realized what was happening and lifted off. It wasn't yet down to idle when 3rd gear decided to grab, so there was a bit of a jolt. Did you have something similar? Eric |

I do use the "slapstik" as I call it, most often shifting down for engine breaking.....let us know how it develops.(or repeats) |
