Tranny/warranty question
Hi all again,
I have an '03 Elantra with 35,000 miles. I bought it back in April and it is still under warranty (drive train/safety) for another 1000 miles. I brought it to the dealer the other day because I think the transmission is slipping occassionally. They told me that it needs a transmission flush. Their price is $179.00. My question is if I take it to another transmission place for that service for cost reasons and at a later time the transmission fails, would it still be covered since I brought it in before the warranty expires? |

You have 1000 miles to prove/disprove the flush theory. Just because you brought it in before does not extend the warranty. Don't dawdle. IMO, it won't make a big difference. You can also try a different dealer. |

It does not matter that you brought it in before your warranty expires. Read your owner's manual. It clearly states that Hyundai does not require you to use their dealerships for repairs and routine maintenance in order to keep your warranty in effect. Read carefully though, because there are some specific terms relating to the use of genuine Hyundai parts vs. aftermarket parts. In the case of tranny fluid, use nothing buy Hyundai specified fluid. No "equal" or "compatible" fluids. -- -Mike- mmarlowREMOVE@alltel.net |
