What's the Trick? -- Sonata Blower Fan Switch
Today I replaced the blower fan and switch on our '98 Sonata. The new switch,
from the Hyundai dealer, is just like the old one in terms of connectors, etc. The problem is, the plug on the wire side doesn't look like it is right for the switch, and I cannot get the wire plug to attach to the switch, even though it was connected to the old switch. The switch has 6 blade type (male) connectors in two rows of 3 each. The wire plug has 6 individual female connectors on the bottom and 3 female and 3 blank holes across the top row. The plug seems to be solid plastic, with no movement of the plastic dividers separating the individual female wire connectors. There has to be a trick of some kind to get the plug to attach to the switch, but my Chilton's manual doesn't give me a clue. Can any of you help? Thanks for your advice. Lee |

If you got the part from the dealer, they either gave you the wrong part or didn't get the proper model/year. Good Luck. J.W. |
