2002 Miata vs WRX

I was driving along the other day in my miata

when some ricer in a WRX tries to race me. I was doing around 110 KPH on the highway. He pulls up beside me rev's at me. I don't usually waste my gas on those car's but I noticed this guy had his looking very ricey. I drop it to 3rd let him get on it then first I pulled him hard. He lines me up again this time he downshifts and I pulled him pretty hard once again thru 3rd and 4th. At the top of 4th I let off as there is no need to be doing 180+

I drove a stock Miata a couple of years ago. Not a bad little car, with lots of potential. The only thing I didn't like was my shoulders were mashed into the door, and into my passenger. I guess I'm a little to big for the miata. Do you do any autocross at all? I would love to get a series started around here.

i'm sure their nice little cars, but a WRX (a modified WRX???) , come on that thing will eat a miata. a 2002 mx5 is a high 15's car vs. the mid 14's wrx, seriously??? come on..

i've killed miatas when my GSR was stock, and was owned by WRXs, this makes no sense to me.

Not only that, but one reason why the WRX is so fast is because it gets out of the hole very quickly. But once it's already rolling, the weight and drivetrain loss of AWD will take its toll. A Miata weighs like 2300lbs, and with 175hp (typical from a forced induction Miata), it would be a pretty quick car.

^ Turbo Miatas are fast, but they aren't THAT fast... unless they were racing a SAE car from 20 years ago.

i found the record:

http://www.wiredmotorsports.com/pitl...5_results.html

scroll down a bit about 3/4 down the page that lists everyone's time
granted, i had to look back through about 20 events... but often when turbo miatas and SAE cars are there.... miatas are about 2 seconds off the SAEs... which does speak volumes to their speed

True GRaves

also his car is S/C not turbo you will notice most top Miata AutoX people are S/C due to throttle response and lack of lag. U will notice at mose events the miata is always very competive. Prob due to short wheel base and RWD and lots of grip on the right tire.

that and they all run sick *** allignments, run on 13 or 14's, using the cheater tires with the two line's in'em and the Miata is one awsome car when done right. Paul is water cooled too if Im not mistaken.
