89 Acura Legend VS. 94 Civic SI

So, the Legend is auto and completly stock as of now, my friend got his 94 civic si and it went down, the only time he was ahead of me was after he shifted to second and the auto had not yet reached rpms to shift, once it shifted up, I was gone and he was left behind. I love Honda V6's, oh and civic was stock other than ram air and fuel pressure regulator, so pretty much a stock race. still fun for the new legend, but we had a nice clear country road to race on.

X_LUDWIK_X 01-23-2006 11:04 PM

fuel pressure regulator??

for what???

Auto? time to sell and get stick.

Honda Tech 01-23-2006 11:25 PM

regulator was on the civic, and yes the legend will go at some point for serious project car, come on, I work for Honda, the legend is a winter vehicle. I have summer plans. but the race was just for shits

yeah, I don't mind sharing plans but will post later tonight when I have more time.

and to "stealthZ", I know about intakes, but if you know then you would know that it doesn't matter what intake you have unless you have a cold air, its the only one that really adds anything to your car, or are you one of those guys that thinks you can get 10 or more HP just from an intake.

Blown_mx5 01-24-2006 04:52 PM

Thats awesome nothing better then 2, 16 second cars doing battle.

Premium Dude 01-24-2006 08:17 PM

Actually cold air intakes dont give that much power either. No intake does unless your car is running mad power, then you might be able to notice a difference.
In my opinion, best intake is the comptech icebox style.

Honda Tech 01-24-2006 08:58 PM

yeah, thats what I was saying, it doesn't matter what type of intake, on stock, doesn't make any difference, and 2 16sec cars are fun if thats all you have out right now.

aparently you DONT, and you just proved it. first of all, ram air doesnt just by puting a hood scoop on your car and calling it ram air. second, i know the diff between a wai and a cai and your "but if you know then you would know that it doesn't matter what intake you have unless you have a cold air," proves that you have no knowledge except what you learn on jdmcivic.com. short ram and cold air both proved the same amount of hp with maybe 1hp diff between the two, and thats not even 1hp to the wheels. short air, unlike cai, has benefits such as shorter path and less turns which means higher velocity. yes it pulls air from the engine bay, but when youre driving, do you really think the air is stationary, therefor the air isnt that much warmer then what you get from a "cold" air intake. the cai has a longer tube which the air has a longer path to travel and also heats up while travelling in the tube, as there is more surface area. you also pick up heat from the roads on a hot day aswell. there is no real benefit between the two, and if you like to think otherwise, congrats, and read up on something. you have 2 choices, you can buy a short ram if you want the tiny gain an intake provides, or you can get a cai for the same gains, but the "street cred" and being able to say, "bro, i have a cold air, its sick." either way, they are both the same.

with that being said, take your, "its the only one that really adds anything to your car," lmao, ya right, you talk mad and then post this, you must be very knowledgeable, and, "you one of those guys that thinks you can get 10 or more HP just from an intake." and gtfo. and i dont wanna hear about how youre a honda tech and bla blah blah. working at the dealership driving the cars in and out of the lot and doing the occasional oil change and tire rotation doesnt make you a tech.

Calm down guys, why fight over intakes? Its a tube with a filter on it. All you need to understand is that an intake by itself is not a major power adder, but its part of a crucial foundation that must be upgraded when modding your car.

CAI revolves around a very good idea of supplying the engine with cold air. Unfortunatly they dont do it very efficiently. In addition, the length of the cold air tube means it takes longer for air to reach your engine.

Thats why I said the compteh icebox style intakes are the best. I made my own custom version of it. It has a tube extended from the throttle body, to an airbox, in which there is a cone filter. So in a sense it acts like a short ram with a heatshield. Then there is a second tube running to the bottom of the airbox to the bumper. That tube sucks in cold air from the enviroment. And to finish it off the whole piece is coated with ceramic to repel heat.

The theory behind it I guess would be that you get the instant response of a SRI, but with the ability to draw in cold air. And the ceramic ensures it stays as cold as possible.

And yet, on its own, there is not much of a difference, because an intake is a supporting mod.

I'm pretty sure people who get cai dont do it for street cred its done for better performance than short rams...

If your just angry they don't make good intakes for your car try to make your own or talk to someone who know's how.

did you not read a single word? :retard:

i bet you have an expensive jdm cai and a chip that give you roughly 50hp to the wheels.

X_LUDWIK_X 01-25-2006 09:48 AM

LOL you just kept on rambling.. from what I understood a cold air isn't that much more efficient?? Right....

I own a domestic....

You own a cavy right?
What do you have done to this beast!

Maybe he has nothing done. Maybe he's just a better driver. But I guess it wouldn't matter with the shitty drag style racing. Drag racing is for handicapped people who can't turn the steering wheel. If your car can't perform in all departments, then go home.
