I'm so hardcore

So I end up racing a stock looking red ~01 prelude... I spin my fronts lightly through first and he puts almost a car length on me, go to nail second, and the ing shift knob comes off the stick

ing fords. :stroke:

buy an old vw. My rabbits shift knob threads on the shifter. Never comes off unless you rip the shifter out of the floor. :owned:

Yeah, my throws are like 8 inches long.
Too bad nobody makes a short throw for my car.

rabbitman 05-27-2005 01:46 PM

you could always try cutting the shifter. this is harsh but anyone who sees your car will ask where you got the short stick. this does not however make shifting easier.

Viperoni 05-27-2005 05:55 PM

I would have done that, but the end of the shift stick isn't threaded, it's got a flat edge :(
If I would have cut the shifter, I would have had to grind a similar flat edge further down the stick... something I didn't want to bother doing.

I ended up greasing the entire shifter assembly, and using some contact cement in the actual plastic shift knob. Hopefully that works.

or you could cut the stick find an after market shifter you really like and use a die to cut threads on your shifter shaft.

That would definetely work, but I don't want to spend money on a shifter and boot. It's not as though they'd make the car faster ;)

SuprAdam 05-28-2005 12:49 AM

i did the same thing, stupid momo shift knob. After that I put the threaded stocker on, it CAN'T slip off.

rabbitman 05-28-2005 07:37 AM

It won't improve performance but you wouldn;t lose because you can't shift.
