ITR vs Cobalt ss

I give this car props. I was about a car infront of him and soon as i hit 5th he pulled on me. It was a long race and ud never hit 5th on the q/m but it was fun. We were even till the end of second he shifted into 3rd b4 me and i was able to get a nose on him soon as i hit third i was about a car length and i stayed about a car length until i hit 5th then he pulled on me. soon as i seen him get a bit infront of me i let off !!! lol

Not a kill but a decent tale

lowbalt 10-31-2006 03:40 PM

breadmaker 10-31-2006 03:55 PM

lowbalt 10-31-2006 04:23 PM

eth0r 10-31-2006 09:09 PM

I'm seen the SS (N/A) Run a 14.8 with a CAI and Drag Radials. The track there, as usual, was pretty bad, but those drag radials really helped him a lot.

sleepy GSR 11-03-2006 12:14 AM

I would expect the ss to be s/c if it beat an ITR with some bolt ons, I saw a nice supercharged ss with some mods run mid 14's at cayuga a few months back.

kwanjai 11-10-2006 01:39 PM

Cobalt SS's ARE the supercharged models.

phatgreatwall 11-10-2006 01:52 PM

no they're not lol, go to gm's website, they have the SS and the SS SC. however im quite confused in recognizing which is which, cz apparently they dont put the SC sticker on them, so it's hard to know ...

vtecsyndrome 11-10-2006 02:38 PM

supercharged badge

you can tell them apart by looking at the SS badge on the rear of the colbalt, if its supercharged, theres a small "supercharger" badge just below the SS

turbocivic 11-11-2006 05:32 AM

I like how to make the Cobalt go fastest allmotor they used a honda tranny:smilie_da

good old Saul

9.60 @ 158 ALLMOTOR

CIVIC EG 11-11-2006 02:12 PM

sauls car is not a cobalt its an integra, ur talking about the clutch masters car right? and he recently got into the 9.5x's with that car at ohio we were there. k series motor and tranny

i know of a cobalt ss supercharged runing 13.1 on street tires, at tmp. with a really good tune and different pulley.

3aXap 11-11-2006 11:32 PM

well i wouldnt expect type r to lose to ss. so i think its pretty even gj

civtegra90 11-12-2006 11:58 AM

Also, the ITR came out when? the mid/late 90s? where was GM with a competitor then? The ITR is outdated in a sense. Not dissin the SS but its a brand new car beatin up on Honda's USDM 4cyl powerhouse of 10 years ago (I believe the ITR first came out in 96, right?)

hahaha, excuses. i thought the type r was the be all end all of cars and its legacy will live on for centuries, but apparently what youre telling me is it aint .

MaulR 11-29-2006 08:08 PM

lol.. i remember lsat year @ cayuga..

Guy had a brand new spanking cobalt SS SUPERCHARGED.. with ass wing, and alloys..

We lined up together, and he ran a 15.4 compared to my 14.8 that time.. we lined up again, he ran a 15.2 compared to my 14.7.. when we picked up our stubs, i waved and gave him a thumbs up.. I got the dirtiest look ever!

So much for your piece of chev, that will depreciate 90% of its value in 2 years

all i had was a AEM CAI.

so post the slips. chances are: a) the guy doesnt know how to drive; b) it wasnt an ss; or c) you're full of .

personally i select the c option for the win.

sleepy GSR 11-30-2006 05:45 PM

stealth z, youre an idiot. get your head outta your ass, and face it the ss sc is not as quick as you think.

Ive read some of your comments and you sure talk alot of but lets be honest here the cobalt isn't saying off the line i have seen it lose to many many many Hondas and the srt4's kill that car also.

My friend had a STOCK civic DX!!! and he Murdered! a mustang v6 ok so its the bass model but u guys always brag about ur displacement

OMG YOU BEAT A V6 MUSTANG :lol_hitti Those are terrible, they weigh a ton and have no power. What a waste of metal.

Anyway, Cobalt's are pretty quick they just need drag radials to give them a decent launch. Liek all FWD cars with torque they'll spin and spin without decent tires.

Not to mention the Cobalts are frigin heavy, leather seats, good system, power everything ....

Apollo 12-22-2006 12:23 AM

StealthZ, you are the villain to all villains....Happy Holidays. :)

xplizit 12-22-2006 06:25 PM

Like the guy said in any quater mile race you don't hit 5th gear,

ITR's tranny is so short compared to the SS

On Highway i'd give the SS the win
On Quater mile, ITR all the way.

I'd drive the ITR over an SS any day though for all purpose, track, speed and handling. Looks wise Also.

There is a fast SS in Brampton though, i believe its dark blue with fogs, other then that only seen him/ her around once. I'd like to run one at the track to compare sometime

-=B4UR2L8=- 01-22-2007 01:56 PM

i agree with the dude above ... honestly its all about the ITR ... it is a nicer ride for all the spec's he mentioned ... the cobalt ... bleh ... not my kinda thing but sure... the looks of a SS are jsut way 2 bulky for my liking ... the ITR though ... nice body overall ... obviously without the stupid rice crap of a body kit ... cuz that just ruins its style... !

no it isnt....theres the ss, and then theres the ss supercharged

AMKK 02-19-2007 09:45 AM

These guys are right. There is an SS trim package that gives you all the rice without the supercharger.

djtrini 02-21-2007 04:23 PM

i've taken on a Cobalt SS supercharged with my hybrid swap last yr on hwy 7.
B18c (GSR) bottem end, with Type r head and type R tranny.

Needless to say it was a easy kill. I pulled atleast 3 cars.

Quick car stock i'll give it that.

stealth512 04-05-2007 10:47 AM

I'm sure he raced the supercharged model. Cause the non supercharged (2.4L ECOTEC with variable valve timing) model looses steam somewhere after 100KM.

blowncobalt 04-16-2007 10:45 AM

Cobalt SS SC usually has the huge wing. Cobalt ss 2.4l does not. But i've seen 2007 come with a SC and a small wing, depending how people order them. On the side of the front doors, under the SS badge there should be a small badge indicating supercharged. I"ve installed stage 2 kits on alot of these cars, and i'm sorry to say but some of the owners can not drive these cars if their life depend it on it. It's all about the take off with these cars, especially if you don't have lsd.

Nicos 04-16-2007 04:13 PM

The Cobalt SS supercharged can be quick with mods.

BlacK_BirD 01-13-2008 07:07 PM

nice kill

fousse69 01-18-2008 08:48 PM

haha nice job good story
