My first major kill

So I drove towards town to drop off a movie at a friends. After leaving her house, instead of turning left and going home, I turned right to look for trouble I guess. I kind of just wanted to relax and drive a while by myself, but I knew that I was in the mood to not back down if I got the sideways glance at a red light on the line.

So thirty seconds later, I'm coming up on a lone black Mustang at a red light. I knew he was stock, and I checked before I got next to him that it wasn't a GT. Late 90's, early 2k, black Mustang. It looked to be an automatic transmission, though -- we were on a slight incline and I never once saw him roll back at any point waiting for the green, nor looked like a standard manual transmission takeoff, either. Anyway, I look over and recognize a kid from my high school a few years back. I graduated a few years ago, so I can't be sure... He looks over at me and seems to recognize me, too, and looks back to the road.

I couldn't be 100% sure this kid wanted to race, so I don't make an *** of myself and just assume we could just cruise... but I still had my clutch down, RPM s up, and my traction control system off just in case. I decided to wait for him to make the first move; a bad move as far as a race is concerned, but wise as far as not making myself look an idiot is concerned.

The light turns green in front of our two waiting cars. The Stang throws his pedal against the floor and starts to spin his rear tires. Half a second to a second later I'm doing the same thing. We both launch with me a hair behind until the top of 1st gear nearing the red line, I pull ahead with his hood next to my front left quarter panel. I shift it into second and floor it, not wanting to lose the lead, and pull away a bit more. Same story, I put it into third after I get too close to the red line. By this time his hood was at about my back quarter panel. The next red light starts to get close so I slow down, and he does the same. Before we stop, the light turns green and he decides to turn left instead, waiting and the red traffic light for the left turn as I ease it back into third and my car struts away.

Now, I've killed a few civics and slaughtered a redneck in his truck (:lolsign: ) so far, but haven't posted anything. I felt pretty good about it, though, seeing as he had a major advantage at the start of the drag.

I think I'll give my car a good detailing tomorrow.

congrats on killing a stang... most v6s will be pretty easy to take.

Chances are you could have taken a GT anyway. They are pathetic. I walked one awfully bad straight motor.

2005 Ford Mustang LX 4.0l 6.9 15.3 (C&D Feb 05)
The benefit you have is most v6 mustang drivers are twats, and get the car for image, but can't drive to save their life. :lolsign:
They are supposed to perform pretty well for a six shooter though. Much better than the previous cars. What does a 3800 maro run?

Probably a little slower, but with decent mods low 15s, high 14s
