Should I do it?

One of my friends has a 2001 Mustang....its an auto and a v6....mine is a 3.4liter V6 and a 5spd...should I race her?

1hottcamaro 12-29-2004 10:48 PM

Yeah i say give it a try-shes ur friend so if u lose im sure it wont be a big deal-i dont know if u will win though??

NCamaro94 12-29-2004 11:50 PM

you'll lose, but if you had a 3.8 you'd win

69z-28 12-30-2004 12:16 AM

if you know how to drive stick really good and i mean REALLy good you may have a chance if you can come out of the whole pullin' the right amount of R's. auto vs stick tho, she'll prolly win.

technically a draw unless there are mods, but i'd put money on the auto unless you know how to use your standard very well.

a lot of these would be up to driver skill....depends on how good you race, and how good your opponents are.

Soon2B8 12-30-2004 04:26 PM

what does the v6 mustang pack?

NoRiceInside 12-30-2004 04:45 PM

a 3.8 with 200 hp. i raced a 2001 3.8 stick and won. i got him when he shifted into second. dude couldnt shift very well.

69z-28 12-30-2004 06:11 PM

stick is a lot less consistent and even if you are pretty good, its not close to an auto because stick u have to let off the gas, clutch, shift, give it gas, and let the clutch out, so when you let off the gas for that split second your loosing all your power whereas auto you put it in gear and stomp it.lol all it takes for an auto to shift is one tiny movement inside the trans and you can keep your foot glued to the floor the whole time.

SOMBirdV6 12-30-2004 09:18 PM

Your car is a 5spd you can take that auto 3.8 mustang no problem. Former member Jeremy took a 2000 auto 3.8 stang no problem tehre only 190hp u have 160hp plus a 5spd they weigh more to if im correct? If you can drive good you should be able to take him.

TorqueDog 12-30-2004 10:11 PM

There are two schools of thought on this.

One is simply this: You have less power, and similar weight, so your 3.4L will lose.

However, the other goes something like this: Ford's automatic gearboxes are TERRIBLE. An automatic 3.4 would lose, but a 5 speed should, at the very least, keep the Mustang from getting away too far. Gearing has always been a strong point of our cars.

However, nothing of what anyone on this forum says will affect the outcome of this race. SO JUST RACE! :D

niceroc 12-30-2004 10:56 PM

the 5 speed is more effiecent, auto looses alot of power

TxCamaro 12-31-2004 02:33 AM

I raced her tonight....I smoked her but it wasn't easy...I red-lined every shift!!

Camarocam 12-31-2004 09:16 AM

SWEEEEEEEEEET! Good Kill Keep up the good work I beat on of those 6 cylinder mustangs with my dads 4 wheel drive jeep cherokee so I was pretty sure your camaro would beat it.
