converting a lancer to evo

well I don't have a lancer at this point but I am thinking about it i was just wondering how much would it cost to convert the lancer to an evo excluding the turbo(would probably upgrade from stock) and excluding labor.

too much money, its not worth it, first you need to find an evo8 then there is a lot of cutting involved especially for the rear differential, plus as soon as you start cutting up a car its not street legal anymore.

If you are looking for the Look of an Evo, then the cost is not outragous, but if you are looking for the performance, unfortunatly it might make more sence to wait until 08 when the Evo is supposed to be coming to Canada. (here's to Hoping)

The other option is to buy a US Evo and make it legal in Canada, For that the Front/Rear Bumper Adbsorbers need to be changed (3mph in US, 5mph in Canada) and any other Emissions issues that may need to be addressed.

please dont misinform people, most people on here are pretty stupid and dont really have a clue...

you cannot convert a us evo and register it in canada.
dont even bother to try to say you can... you cannot. read the riv rules on it.

Ontittech 11-04-2006 04:53 PM

I am not attempting to misinform at all,
I have spoken to a couple of Mitsu Dealers, and the concensious is that with the bumper modification there should be no reason that the EVO is still on the RIV exception list, but as of now I have been unable to get an explanation on what other modifications would be required, as the RIV list covers modifications to Bumpers (ie the 02-05 Thunderbird). and the Evo is not mentioned for that, it is just on the Inadmissible list. The only things I can think of is that the bumper conversion may not be feasible due to the location of the IC, and that the Fog lights may not be admissible in Canada. Also Transport Canada has been unable to give me a straight answer, their only answer to me was "if it's on the RIV as Inadmissible, then it is Inadmissible" without any reasoning behind it.
I would just be happy if I could get a straight answer as to Why. If it is a body issue, it can be addressed, if it is an Emissons issue, it can be addressed, but we need to know the reason behind it.

Might wanna get your drivers license before you start converting. Hey how much to convert a 4dr maxima into a R34 2dr GTR?? Is it legal?? .......:la:

Yea it would be nice if it could happen, and trust me I have looked into it, but it's not going to happen.

There is nothing wrong with taking an ES/OZ/Ralli and putting an Evo VIII/IX Body kit on it, they still look gorgeous, they just don't have the same go. There was a guy in Montreal about 8-9 Months ago that had a Midnight Blue ES that he had fully done up with an Evo VIII kit, and it was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen, he only wanted $12,500 for it too, but the problem was it was an Automatic :smilie_d0 and it had all of the wooden trim from the ES Still in it. Also he did not have the original hood for it, as I wouldn't want to drive it in the winter with the VIII hood on it.

The only way we will ever see a Canadian Legal Evo is if Mitsubishi Releases it themselves. They have been rumored to be discussing it due to Suburu having the STi's over here, but I don't want to see the price tag that will be attached to it.

If it is going to happen it will happen with the Evo X, but don't hold your breath.

i have done a partial conversion on mine, but it cost me lots of time and money so far have a look here

http://ralliart04.monchar.com/

but i for me since we can't get the Evo here in Canada, for me this is the next best thing.

Evo 8's

Ive personally seen a evo 8, and i guarantee it was a evo 8, in toronto area twice, once at finch/bayview, then another time on the 407, and it had ontario plates, my uncle worked at a mitsubishi dealership in BC, and they made a evo street legal, but it cost alot, and they sold it for like 65-70k from what i remember.. just some food for thought

also, saw a ralliart that was yellow with a evo front end conversion, no offence to owner, but the lights didnt even match up very well, didnt look too hot..

Just buy a dsm :P

6Msentra 02-02-2007 12:31 AM

ok... again... stop with the misinformation.

whatever it is that you saw... is NOT LEGAL. that means no insurance on the car... how many people want to drive around in a 45k car with no insurance? not to mention that if it is found out, it will be immediately seized and returned to the usa at the owners expense.

sorry, but your uncle lied to you.... there is no way to make any evo from the usa legal in canada for general use/resale.

The White Evo 8 that is around Toronto/Niagara Falls has New York Plates on it,not Ontario.
There are a couple of Wannabe Evo's in Toronto, there is an ES that is done up with a Full EVO 8 Kit, in a Gorgeous Blue, but again, it's a Wannabe. It is in my opion no better then the fools who take a Fiero, and slap on a Ferrari Body kit. Your car is not and will never be a Ferrari, so stop trying.

It is not hard to throw an Evo Body kit on a car and call it an Evo. Just wait until 08 when the Evo X will be available in Canada. but then again I doubt you'll be old enough to have your licence anyways, and mommy and daddy probably won't loan you the $55g's for the car.

kyriian 02-02-2007 10:40 AM

there's a BUTT ugly Yellow ES running around markham with the same evo bodykit too, only done very badly... for the love of god it has HUB CAPS!
