Mitsubishi Lancer vs Mazda 3

OK so I'm planning on buy a car very soon and I have had my eye on the Mazda 3 GT for a long time now but recently thought about a Mitsubishi Lancer. I went for a test drive of the 2009 Lancer GTS and it was a very nice ride. The only real concern I have about the Lancer is the poor climate and sound control appearance. Other then that it is a really nice car. As for the Mazda I had no concerns but now after driving the Lancer I think I want a car with a bit more punch. The Mazda has 156hp/150torque and the Lancer has 168hp/167torque.

I need some insight with my choice. The exact model of the Mazda will be a 2009 Mazda 3 GT with luxury package and the Mitsubishi will be a 2009 Lancer GTS with sun and sound leather package.

I'm looking at a manual transition. Car must be new, and I most likely will be leasing it for 48 months, very small chance I would finance, and absolutely no chance I will buy it because I cannot afford to pay $30,000 for a car right now. I was also looking at the VW Rabbit. Any thoughts?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I think he's referring to the Lancer GTS not the Ralliart.
There's quite a price jump between the GTS and the Ralliart and the Ralliart.

Ralliart, Mazda 3, VW rabbit are in the same class. The Ralliart is the next step up from the GTS.
