Price of car?

A friend of mine recently rebuilt a 96 eclipse gs. Body has 180000kms on it and the rebuilt motor has about 200km on it. Just wondering about how much it is worth as he wants to sell it.

4000-6500 depends on buyer and body condition

sick96gst 07-24-2007 05:08 PM

if its mint 7000

SlvrTarantula 07-24-2007 05:15 PM

you guys are being very generous with those quotes..

Its a 420a engine, very high K's. It would be worth as much as a Talon ESi, maybe a couple of hundred more, but even that would be pushing it because its a '96. If it was in MINT condition I would offer $5k, but even that is generous. Buy an ESi for $4k with 150,000km, and I'll sell you eclipse tail lights for a couple of PS3 games, and you can pick up an eclipse rear bumper for $300. Done.

sick96gst 07-24-2007 05:17 PM

yea but unfortunatly there is a price difference between the eclipse and the talon. a gsx eclipse is worth 10+ where as a tsi i sworth 6-7

Well you're talking GSX versus TSi, completely different story.

Even still, the price gaps have gotten smaller over the years, as Eclipses are not as rare as they used to be. Thats very slowly changing though.

According to KBB the 96 Eclipse GS is only worth $3,485usd, and that is in excellent condition.

Take my word for it, Eclipses are worth no more then Talons unless its a GSX.

Other then the fact that a true GSX are slightly harder to come by, there are no differences.. Dont turn this into a debate about the Turbo versions, thats not whats being discussed..

Gonads 07-25-2007 06:35 PM

GS = non-turbo scrap metal left over from turboed models (mitsu)
GST = turbo front wheel drive (mitsu)
GSX = turbo all wheel drive (mitsu)
ESi = non-turbo same as GS for Eagle
TSi = turbo front wheel drive (eagle)
TSi AWD = turbo all wheel drive (eagle)

Differences made easy!

yep.. and that is soo true about the price gap closing.. these cars are becoming more and more easily available in canada... but goto Used Cars, New Cars, Buy a Car, Sell Your Car - AutoTrader.com and look at the eclipses.. there dirt cheap in the states... with the current $ you would be dumb to spend 6g on a non turbo eclipse in canada...

you can import one for cheap.. as remember.. you dont have to pay duty!! (because its made in north america)... just a 220 dollar adm. charge..

but you can get a florida or arizona or texas car for dirt cheap..

Probably the price of a new car btween US$25,00 to 26,000
2009 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder GS 2WD
Gas Mileage: 19 mpg city / 26 mpg highway
Engine: 4 Cylinder, 2.4 Liter, 162 HP
