Quick performance

anyone know what i could buy for less than $100 that will boost hp by at least 10hp without adding on sound?
(for an eclipse spyder 2003)

HandicapCivic 05-07-2005 11:25 PM

A NOS sticker. :knock_tee

HandicapCivic 05-07-2005 11:37 PM

Plus ten horsepower is like getting a baby to push you at 150kp/h u wont feel a difference.

Nebojsa 05-07-2005 11:54 PM

...

I said at least 10hp

HandicapCivic 05-08-2005 12:52 AM

my bad man , just some friendly fun. But umm u have the essentials?

Intake? maybe sum headers?

Nebojsa 05-08-2005 01:59 AM

I hear performance improvements is having a sale on the Tornado :thumbsup

HandicapCivic 05-09-2005 04:43 PM

On the Tornado air "filter" That goes in the tube of the intake?

MRAD 05-09-2005 05:14 PM

Yes, lmao, now everyone go out an buy one, but dont come after me when you are done with it.

240-fan 05-09-2005 09:05 PM

Just toss a cone intake , just the filter nothing else , might no be exactly 10 but you should see a difference , and no noise.

Nebojsa 05-11-2005 04:21 PM

maybe not a lot of noise, but it makes more noise

in depends what kind... some do some do not

General 05-11-2005 06:45 PM

for more HP for free.. adance the timing on your car.. just a bit but im sure you will get some more HP

B6T 05-11-2005 08:42 PM

^ Might be hard (or impossible) to do on such a new car.

Cerberus 05-11-2005 08:55 PM

For under $100, I'd suggest a used CAI....but I dont think you'd get more than 10hp. Maybe some new plugs and wires might help boost the hp as well but im not sure what would be recommended for your car.

sky_kid 05-12-2005 08:09 PM

Just to point out the obvious.

He wants his car to go faster, as cheap as possible, without making it louder?

Take out the interior.

HandicapCivic 05-12-2005 09:05 PM

Ive got a question... When people gut the interior do they tae everything off the door panels and just leave the shell visible along with the door mechanisms? And you guys take out the rearseats and interior aswell too?

79camaro 05-12-2005 10:12 PM

Well it depends on how thorough of a gut you want
the most basic is removal of the rear seats and spare tire and jack
but can go as far as no door panels dash carpet seats beside driver noise inhimbitor insulation trunk cover anything besides door handles speedo and seat and belt

HandicapCivic 05-12-2005 10:18 PM

Damn, That a lot of to remove.. and if you guys done this? Got any Pics?

ricewagon94 05-12-2005 10:51 PM

It is a common practice to remove everything that isn't necessary to reduce weight. For every 100 lbs (?) you gain 1/10th of a second in a quarter mile. Also they will replace glass panels with lighter composite materials. Glass is very heavy.

ivperformance 05-12-2005 11:35 PM

Back to something under 100$, the ecu idea is good, but from my understanding it will still involve advancing the timing electronically, so that means you might be forced to use higher octane. The cone will not make much noise, nothing really noticable, either way it sounds good, dont think about it like your exhaust, I havnt heard one cone that made an engine sound bad.

Pacesetters suck but you can get their headers for around 100$, if you are looking at performance generally why dont you consider getting a strut bar, however get the non-adjustable one since the adjustable ones dont make a difference.

if you are a do it yourself guy, take off your throttle body, port it to match the intake perfectley, same with the intake matching the cylinder head, you will only spend money on the gaskets. dont do the port and polish for the cylinder head, since its pretty complicated and you can up pretty good if you dont know what you are doing.

However best bang for buck are stickers. think about 100$ worth... .

Dr.K 05-18-2005 01:29 AM

Get a K&N.....then throw $10 of Sunnoco 94 and a whole bottle of Octane boost.maybe give you 3-4hp..............lol. And you can advance your timing more if you've got crazy octane.
