Your recommended DSM shops

Was looking to do a 97-99 Eclipse 2Gb conversion but finding OEM bumpers without having to pay an arm and a leg for shipping from the States seems near impossible.

Up until now, Ebay, and the usual DSM classified sections were my only source for parts, whether performance or non-performance.

Can you guys suggest any of your personal shops where you buy parts for your DSMs?

As of right now I'm looking for places that could land me some bumpers, even a body kit if it came to that (although I do prefer the stock look)... same goes for any shops you may know that specialize in DSMs as I will soon be doing my T-Belt and possibly a 6 bolt swap.... and as we all know, not just anyone can do that, heh.

Thanks in advance!

only shop i know local that deals with them is Magnus. Hope you have a fat wallet :thumbsdow

But his work appears to be really nice.

However, i dont think they deal with any used parts :thumbsdow Give em a call.

www.canspeed.com Magnus will sell you everything you dont need and your car will get stolen outside metalex motorworx shop.

mr.mitsu 03-05-2006 10:07 PM

go to ca.dsm.org

look for ziggy, he usually posts in the "to sell" and "commercial advertisements"

awesome guy

Jamus 03-05-2006 10:53 PM

I would go to Metalex over Magnus anyday.
Reasonable pricing, and Radim is a great guy to shoot the with.
www.Metalexmotorworx.com

I rarely take my car to a shop to be worked on, but if I do
Radim is the man

I'll agree with you Ziggy's an awesome guy ,and great to do business with but really isn't what Yungstar is looking for. RTM Racing(Ziggy) is the canadian distributer of SlowBoy Racing. So anything you can find on slowboyracing.com he will be able to hook u up with, without dealing with US customs.

Like mentioned earlier, your going to pay top $ for work at Magnus, but Marco DOES know what he's doing. I've had a couple of things fab'ed up for me by Arnel, used to work for Marco, but last heard was with Ultimate Racing.

Another option is Ultimate Racing. If Arnel is still there I'd trust him with anything DSM related. But if you don't know Johnson your going to have to pay.

Metalax - As for having your car getting stolen from there...whatever. That was just a stupid comment. I know that it has happened but theres going to be a risk anytime you leave your car anywhere, after all its Toronto. Radim is one of the best DSM mechanics around, and does some pretty nice fab work.

Canspeed - Never been there, don't know anyone that has but if your car gets stolen from there...no worries, theres only like 5 DSM's in barrie.

FLYBYNIGHT 03-10-2006 12:30 PM

actually theres 3

RichardGSX 03-22-2006 09:51 PM

Theres another shop, called Force Power, but its far, out in ingersoll. My car is getting the full works done there. DSM's only, really good shop. www.forcepower.ca. The name of the guy who owns it is Mark.

Edit: Magnus hasnt been getting very good reviews lately. There work seems to be getting sloppy, specially because Marco is too busy with fabrication and doesnt actually work on the cars himself much anymore.

And what would the works be if you don't mind me asking?

RichardGSX 03-23-2006 06:16 PM

Well im not putting down $100,000 on it, its just getting restored....the engine is new, only 2300 miles, from magnus. Body/Underbody are being redone, interior is being fixed up, engine is being pulled(again) to get the engine bay painted and detailed, AC removed, cruise removed, i'm just getting it cleaned up a bit. As i said a new motor is in there already, has Ross pistons, didnt have the money to do that much to the motor at the time and got a new Big 16G put in. When i bought the car it was rough, but its coming along. And i got no problem with you asking, but why do you ask?

Because I've had a DSM for years, and love them :fing02:

If your new to this, your going to get hook in a big way. Theres nothing quite like AWD + turbo. I've been around DSM's for about 6 yrs now. I own 2 of them. I have a fwd and an awd. I'm 30, and yes I've been a member of Club DSM for years. The guys from Forcepower didn't get off to a good start at Club DSM. They unintentionally insulted alot of ppl, which really hurt them on the forum. They didn't realize a large number of DSM owners work on their cars themselves, and made a stupid comment about 'mouse pad mechanics & DSM hack jobs', not knowing that there are a bunch of guys on the site that know more than 99% of the mechanics out there when it comes to DSM's. Get a manual and start working on the car yourself, that way you'll have more $ for mods  .

Hmm, wonder why they would say that, i can tell there are many able mechanics on those boards. But Mark definately does know his stuff. And yea im already getting hooked, lots of work to be done, but its all for the love! i do have a manual, have to get the DSM CD manual tho. I do work on it myself, but there are things that i cant do because i dont have time or space to do it(or anyone to help sometimes), like a restoration. It's also modified, some of which came with the car when i bougt it, but its coming along, im hoping to come out to more of the meets this year now that the car will actually be running, meet some of the guys on the boards and hopefully learn a lot from them.

P.S. sorry it took a while for the reply, was on vacation in mexico :)

jorgieblair 04-14-2006 12:58 PM

1 vote for Radim @ metalex

Turbo_AWD_DSM 04-17-2006 01:49 AM

I've never heard anything about the shops around T.O. 'cause I live up North, but I've heard a lot of good words about RTM Racing and Ziggy. Ziggy as well frequently runs Group Buys on a lot of stuff (e.g. Clutches, injectors, Widebands just to name a few recent ones) on the ca.dsm.org site and everyone always seems happy with the products he gets, and the service they get from Ziggy...

metal144 05-22-2006 09:33 AM

If its Jay Peterson, he's ripped off alot of club members in the past, including his own friends :nono:

metal144 05-22-2006 11:43 AM

No it's Jay Pham i picked up some rims from him he was a decent guy.

wilddog 07-24-2006 06:20 PM

My best advice is to STAY AWAY from Magnus Motorsports. to keep a long story short, I bought an eclipse from the owner. He got his friend to fake the safety certification papers. Turned out the car had a bunch of problems I didnt notice. Leaking cv boot, leaking power steering rack, no battery tray..... It wasnt until after I bought the car that I found out how many other people they have screwed over. Magnus is only after your money, they could care less about you as an person. And alot of people in the toronto dsm community dislike them as much as I. Consider yourself warned

NOTORIOUS VR 08-16-2006 09:58 PM

^^^ Marco @ Magnus is one of the best in the business... Leaking CV boot? could have happened on u'r drive home, same with the leaking rack... as for the battery tray... lmao... whatever...

Also a big vote for Radim @ Metalex... to the goof that said u'r car is going to get stolen from there, his new shop is big and can keep many car inside... which is where most if not all customer cars go when the shop is closed for the day.

wilddog 08-20-2006 01:19 PM

Ya. it happened on the way home. the cv boot tore, powersteering started leaking, rear rebar must have jumped off too, tie rods and sway bars loosened too. all in the 15 minutes it took me to drive it home. retard :retard:
Considering marco specializes in dsms, and much of the dsm community in toronto avoids him like a plauge obviously spells something out about his character. Best in the business? haha. Thanks for the laugh along with your inept commentary.

Well, I know Ziggy well .
Beside , he doesent deal with sbr any more , sbr service is terrible as I heard from couple guys.

Any way , if you want the good parts with good price contact Ziggy.

A 6 bolt swap is very straight forward, I have one in my 97 gsx. My advice would be to ask one of the local guys on the dsm board to do it for ya, and pay him for the swap.

No one, imo, is better for DSM's then ForcePower. You can check out the FP run forums at Southern Ontario DSM - Log in - BAD-ASS DSMs, NORTH OF THE BORDER - Free Message Board Hosting by FreePowerBoards.com. Many DSMers go exclusively to them. They are located in Ingersoll, around Guelph area.

I have extensive knowledge of DSMlink, pm me and I'll see when I have the time! I've tuned a number of cars on Club DSM Canada.
