well don't get a sports bike...get something with a growl instead of a whine.

Triumph Bonneville, Thruxton or Scrambler are modern interpretations of the motorcycles of the 50's.If you want a bike that looks like a 40's bike there's the Kawasaki Drifter that looks like an old Indian motorcycle.

The Honda VTX cruisers really have a streamline look to them. You can get the full fenders (vintage styled) and retro lights as options. The bike rides good and is pretty light also. Hope this helps

Assuming you don't want to buy a 1950's motorcycle, try Indian. They make some REALLY nice, old looking models.

You might want to look at one of the new Indians....http://www.indianmotorcycle.com/Not inexpensive, but they may have the looks you want.

If I am reading this right.... I believe you are looking for something in the nature of the old Harley look from back in the 50s. They are now called cruisers. Something to consider is the weight. I don't know how big you are but you will be looking at something that is weighing in anywhere for 480 - 650 lbs pick up weight. Yamaha makes a bike called the V Star Classic (650cc) which has the old look and it is on the lower end of the weight scale and a V Star 1100 Classic which weighs in at 650+ lbs. They have introduced one for 08 called the V Star 250. It also has the looks but is only running 250cc and weighs in at 300 lbs. So.... you might want to look at all of those....if my guess on what you are looking for is even correct.Good luck,Z
