Is an electric scooter considered a motorcycle? Do you need a D.L., if so what kind?

Is an electric scooter considered a motorcycle? Do you need a D.L., if so what kind?

I was eold an electric scooter needs no D.L., only wear a helmet. Is this true?

I believe so. Even gas powered bikes are legal if they are 50cc or less engine displacement.

Most electric scooters are considered "off-road" vehicles and as such you need no driver's license (however, they are not street legal, so don't be surprised if you're stopped and the scooter is confiscated). Good luck!

I'll answer this the same way I answer all "Do I need a motorcycle license?" questions. GET ONE ANYWAYS! Please take a motorcycle safety class and get a motorcycle license. About 60 percent of people killed on two wheeled vehicles of any kind have no training and no license. Besides, you will end up upgrading to a faster scooter soon or later anyways. PLEASE get training and be safe!
