How hard is it to get your Motorcycles license?

I have been driving a car for many years, and I last year sold my car. I was thinking of getting a little motorcycle for the street to get back and forth since I only do local driving in my community and I think it would be perfect for me. Do I take the motorcycle I am going to be driving to the DMV or do I have to take somebody else's. Are they easy to learn to use?

Depends on where you live. Call your local dmv or look them up online. My kids had to go in first and take a writen test for a permit. The permit made it so they could ride the motorcycle for practice. The permit did not allow them to have passengers, drive on the freeway. or at night. One took his own bike to the dmv for their test. The other two took a special motorcycle class and took the test there. Most dmv's have the rules online now so it should be fairly easy to google yours. Good luck and enjoy riding ! Pam

I don't know about all states, but in CA, you don't have to take the DMV test if you pass a CHP certified safety class (which is supposedly easier than the DMV and provides their own bikes). Now, regarding using your bike for commuting, I wouldn't at least for the first 6 to 12 months. You don't want to be a rookie-rider riding in traffic where a car can come at you from literally EVERY direction. Your reflexes aren't fast, you tend to stall, and it's just flat-out dangerous and not fun. It's better to get your practice on quiet rural roads or on neighborhood streets in the middle of the day when everyone is at work.
