Motorcycle muffler and cheap vinyl saddlebags...yuck!?
I was trying to save a little bit of money so I purchased these saddlebags that are made from vinyl, or are of the vinyl family. Anyway, one of the bags got too close and left a patch of residue on my muffler. Are there any "magical" products out there that can remove this vinyl residue and shine the muffler back up? Thanks!!

Nope, time to by a new pipe, one more lesson learned.

i would try a few things before giving up.....I had a similar experience on my pipe and was able to clean it. PM me if you'd like more info

Try warming up the muffler and spray with "Easy-Off" extra-strength oven cleaner (not the "odor-free" stuff)----PROTECT PAINTED SURFACES!!!---- let stand for 20 minutes or so, repeat a few times, DON'T SCOUR with anything abrasive enough to mar the chrome! You might still have a stain visible, use a cotton buffing-wheel with jeweller's rouge to polish (hardware-store kit).
The oven cleaner will also remove some of the blueing on the header-pipes too. It worked for me, almost new again, hope it works for you! |
