Motorcyclists: What are your biggest riding pet peeves?

I've been doing a LOT of commuting on my motorcycle around Boston recently, and here are the things that have been driving me crazy:1. other bikers who don't think the rules of the road apply to them (I HATE when they ride up the line between stopped traffic, I'm waiting for one of these grumpy Boston drivers to see them coming in the rearview and open his door...not that I want that, but it just seems like a matter of time)2. The insane number of SUVs on the road. I can't see over them or around them and there are so many that I'm frequently boxed in by them with no visibility.3. I know this will raise a debate, but... states without helmet laws. I know everyone has their opinions, but the sight of a person's head literally busted all over the pavement stays with you.4. (for similar reasons) bikers in shorts, flipflops, shirtless, etc. Honestly guys, FLIP FLOPS? If you had to put your foot down fast, you'd have no foot left! What is your list? (no non-riders please)

1) The helmet thing bothers me, in a different way. I live in a state that does not require helmet (IL) and I always get solicitation asking me to donate money to motorcycle organazations so that they can 'fight the proposed laws that will require helmets'. As riders, don't we have better things to spend our money on?2) It bothers me when people are travelling together and are either riding right behind each other (back tire to front tire) or are right next to each other in a lane. Doing this guarantees that if one of them loses it, more than one bike is going down. 3) Crotch rockets that do wheelies on the highways at 50+ mph. Dangerous to everyone and I see it entirely too often. Happy riding!

Harley riders drive me nuts - Their bikes are way to loud and they always snub ya when ya wave.I also hate tailgaters. I don't like having a Hummer riding my rear when I am only on a 250 bike... I don't want to be mush on the road. Finally - people without insurance. This is just a general driving pet peeve but it sucks either way - you get hit, you are screwed if the person doesn't have insurance.

Non attentive people:1. My pet peeve would have to be young teenagers driving there cars recklessly and do not pay attention to anyone else that is on the road. They often turn corners at high speeds all while cutting you off. 2. The Business Man driving to work in the morning reading the paper, on the cell phone, typing on his PDA, all while taking a sip of coffee. This type of individual also does not pay attention to his surrounding. 3. The typical Woman driving in the morning. They are often applying make-up, on the cell phone, smacking her kids that are seated behind her, and not paying attention to anyone on the freeway or street.4. I can't forget about old people driving...I think that is self explanatory.Yamaha R6 05'www.wantedridaz.net

Drivers who pay more attention to their cell phones than the road.this drives me nuts for i have seen several riders get hit by these people.

1) drivers who think that when you stop at a stop sign and talk to the person you are riding with that its ok to go around us2) effin SUV's/trucks are you really that small, you need a truck that big to make up for it... it's only u in the car anyway.. get a smaller one, then everybody will be happy3) other riders who speed needlessly... yes my bike revs to 22k and tops out at about 230mph... but 80 is fine with me... you go ahead and hit that pothole at more then 100 and lets see if your not airborn 4) other sport bike riders who wear "hitler helmets" good job retards, it lifts up on you, you look like a jack@ss and are literally removing the point of having a sport bike by strapping that parachute to your dome5) BIG people on little bikes... if the suspension compresses more then 4" you ride a hog not a rocket fatty6) handicap/pennsylvania drivers... either drive insanely fast or insanely slow, never a blinker, changes lanes just because, and very abruptly, hardly if ever looks before they murge to see if anyones there... 7) little fags in their civics with bolt on exhaust tip and intake thinking they can even try and compete with a sport bike... news flash tampon owners harley's will rip you a new one on the line so knock it offif you are any one of there car/suv/truck drivers... you will know it's me... cuz your losing a mirror, or a window... trust me on that one

I don't really have any pet peeves or any peeves at all. Quite a number of years ago, a quite older gentleman hobbled over to me as I was securing my gym bag to the back of my bike. He said, "Little lady, I'm a'gonna tell you something. Ride that bike like you are invisible. You are always invisible. You'll be riding safer and a very long time." Then he proceeded to get on his Harley hog and off he went. His words have saved my life more than once and over the years it has become second nature to "ride like I'm invisible." Any kind of irritation is headed off before it starts since I'm so very aware of my surroundings. I started riding when I was 21. I'm now 55 and still invisible.

Well, what you have stated is just part of the motorcycle package. My BIGGEST PET PEEVE is not having enough time or money (especially at the same time!) to just keep on riding. ... My dad was almost wiped out in Boston! we had just left the Cape Cod area and pulled out on the road when a car took a left right in front of my dad, and I almost hit the car and I was behind him! He did one heck of a street dance with that Suzuki! He was a great rider tho and saved it! ... I feel for you riding in Boston! .. Be safe and happy cycling!I just read Cafe Tbird's yanswer, I agree the the T-Bird, but, Im an eagle tonight anyway!

I live in florida and its definitely old people changing lanes without looking.

Plain and simple, People who do not pay attention while driving and nearly run you off the road. Save your aggression for them and not for other bikers. Honda VFR800

Cagers. Plain and simple. I almost got hit today because a guy in a truck didn't see me even though I was almost even with his driver's side mirror. Fortunately, I did see him and was able to avoid him. He waved as if to say he was sorry, but that would have mattered little if he clipped me and sent me sprawling across a four-lane into oncoming traffic.
