I've taken on a Sportster. It runs fine, but the starter either isn't getting power or is needing to be replaced. I have tried to cross the studs on the solenoid. The lights don't dim and nothing changes. I am at a loss. Any help. I refuse to kick start this beast again, due to the fact, it kicks back and injures my calf.Have tried to use a 12 volt car battery, and I'm not taking it to a shop, that is for yuppies and pukers!

try jump starting it with a car battery, or take it to a bike shop and have it checked out.

Try tapping on the starter motor with a hammer. It might have some crap on the armature.
