Training/Learning Question.

Giving some thought to getting on a bike this year to try it out.
Anyone here have some advice, or that can point me in the right direction of a riding school or some kind of training?
I’ve been in a car for 17 years and would not mind a change.
Thx.

^^^yup. M1 first, then school. My friend went to RTI, but i've heard good things about Humber College too. I believe for those courses, you need full gear, so helmet, jacket, pants, boots etc.

My friend went to RTI. Humber I heard is very good too; i'd go with humber imo.

btw, unless you wanna get a bike instead of a car, re-think it. M1 is like 50 or 60$. Training course is like $400 or something, BUT you need all the gear to do the course. helmet is like 300$+++, jacket is like $100++, boots $100+, gloves, pants, etc etc. All in all, if you dont have those stuff, its like $1000 give or take. A bike costs like $700+. Insurance for it cost like $2000-3000 (my friends '06 bmw bike cost him 3k, new rider etc.). i was gonna do it last summer, but i bought a car instead. its up to you though bro,

DDM Apr 20, 2007 11:27 PM

Yeah I was thinking about that. But thing is I love bikes and I can get the M2 sooner you know what I mean ? lol

I'm still gonna buy an EF tho just to cruise around in:smilie_da

its not really necessary to buy all motorcycle gear u can use any helmet as longs there DOT approved or u can also rent them just for the weekend course as for the jacket doesnt have to be a motorcycle leather jacket u can use heavy jacket like jean jacket as for the gloves u can use any gloves as longs it covers ur whole hand ive seen ppl wearing work gloves & for the boots u can wear any boots as longs it covers ur whole ancle work boots works fine then leather/jeans pants.

if u have any other questions feel free to stop by at Humber College North Campus during weekends except for long weekends the dont run the class & ask some questions there be glad to answer some of ur questions

good luck

hey guys im lookin to buy a bike a 600cc ive never riden a bike before but am goin 2morro to get my M1. any help and pointers you can give me will be great. how hard is it to learn. and do u require to have driving school in order to get ur m2?

As mentioned above riding courses do not require full gear but mild safety gear, DOT approved helmet, gloves of any kind but has to be a full glove, heavy jacket, footwear to cover ankles. The cost of the course is about 400ish dollars and this gets you your M2 if you pass. This would be like young drivers but just at the end they put there hat on and now they are the minstry and test your abaility on there setup coarses. If you fail you can always come back the following weekend when they are testing to retest. The M1 is very inexpensive and covers road signs and motorbike saftey. Once you obtain your M1 you can ride but not past dark. Also you have to wait 60 days before you get your M2. So basically you could write your M1 one week and sign up for the course the following and pass, but you wouldn't obtain your M2 lisncese until 60 days later.

Usually at the end of the course there smaller bikes have given you enough confidence to ride on the street. The only thing you have to overcome and learn is the bike you are riding, which took me less then 2 weeks.
