What is the appeal of the motorcycle?

I'm thinking about taking riding lessons one day.

If you have to ask then motorcycles are not for you.

Ah my friend the pleasures re many when on two wheels. Wind in your face sun in your eyes

and bugs in your teeth. By the way the big bugs have a better taste and crunch when you chew them. And least i for get the pleasure of some idiot on four wheels pulling out in front of you or either stopping in front of you.

Freedom. Look good. Experience nature (once you're outside the city). Be different. Be environmentally responsible.

Reduced fuel consumption, ease of parking, ability to continue toward my destination when gridlock has the 4 wheelers penned in. Those are (my) most compelling reasons. There's also a bunch of philosophical blather about being connected to nature and freedom and the instant connections with strangers with whom we share a skill, interest and slot in society. Those are real too, but really, for me, it's all about getting where I'm going inexpensively, with a LOT fewer obstacles and a LOT easier parking.

Bikers like to burn some serious rubber (well, not all burn rubber) and the freedom of being out in the open instead of in a closed up vehicle. It's like the same thing as riding a regular bike, only faster paced and in traffic.
