wrapping my headers on my sport bike...
...Good or Bad? I’m thinking of wrapping my headers on my sport bike with black exhaust wrap more for the look. Will I gain horsepower by doing this or will I cause damage to the bike?
You should gain a small amount of hp by keeping the exhaust gas hot as it leaves. I doubt if you'll notice the difference. But who knows, go for it.
you will not gain any horse power at all all you will do is stop you from getting burned but i hope you wear long pants and all the right gear when you ride
Exhaust wrap will void the manufacturers warranty on the headers. Exhaust wrap is designed to keep under hood temps down which is where the claims of horsepower gains come from.
ya you wont get any hp out of it, like you said your mostly doing it for the looks and thats what its gonna give you bike might not feel as warm when your riding it, but it wont hurt the bike. What kind of bike do you ride can you even see the exhaust mainfold?
Your bike engine is much more free then confined manifolds on such a car engine bay. The air flow and dispation of heat from the exhaust components doesn't yeild any power from your bike. The only reason i have seen it used is in aftermarket bike exhausts where it has been burning the fairings. This is going to be a complete waste of time for you and you also have to remove the exhaust to wrap it.
