clutch problem?

Hey, I got a buddy and I think his clutch is gone. The clutch pedal just falls to the floor and has no pressure. He said it feels it the clutch is always engaged.
What is the problem here?

I called a couple places and they are quoting me $2000 to get it install with the parts including the clutch master cyclinder. Another place quoted me $1500 to do it. I'm not sure but thats a ridicously high price to replace the clutch. I got my clutch installed for like $600 including everything. Its a Oldsmobile Alero 2.2L that he has.

For one thing, find out if his clutch is hydraulic or if it has a clutch cable. If its hydraulic, then chances are he has a leak in the brake fluid system(because thats what it uses for fluid, enles its got its own resevour)

If its a clutch cable, then the cable probablly broke and you can replace that with a new one. If you just want to do a clutch itself(just the disc) it isnt that much but while you are there you can get your flywheel resurfaced.

Its a hydraulic clutch and I think its got is own reservoir. It is leaking and the reservoir is topped off. Could it be the clutch master or slave cyclinder?

Well find out where its leaking from and then replace the part.
