Often, the ignition switch must be removed, a locksmith or some dealers will be able to originate a key for you. The last one I did, was for a customer who went to the dealer first. He bought 5 keys, 3 barely worked, 2 were OK, but not even close to being acceptable to me. They were all cut on an unnecessarily long blanks, using a clipper [ a field emergency method for me ],and apparently it took hours as well. I picked up the correct blanks, and within minutes I cut a perfect first generation key, followed by a few more. Be prepared to prove ownership for either method.
