96 Firebird..Knocking

My g/f has a 96 Firebird, 3.8. base model. with only like 48,000km on it. Anyway it's making a noise...well it's making a few noises, but the one thats got me stumped seems to be a loud knocking coming from the area of the driver side headlight. I originally thought it was from the headlight, but whether the light is up or down the noise is consistent. i haven't had much time to mess with it, so i am not sure if it changes pitch with the revs or anything yet. I was just wondering if anyone could tell me what else is in that area of the vehicle that could make a noise like that? I havent driven it in a week or so, but hopefully I'll get some time on the weekend to look at it.

Edit: If anyone could recomend an f-body forum thats at lease close to as good as this one please do so....I've looked around, but most of them seem either inactive, generation specific, engine specific, etc.

hey man,
i have a 95 firebird and the same thing was happening to me.
for me however, it was the headlight motor, on the passenger side, but it was not consistent.

i changed the motor and all was fine!

maybe it could be the engine? , mine use to knock everytime i gas it some gas..
i unno about anything persistent though
