Anyone HELP~!!!
So here is the deal. My buddy just got a 95 Trans Am, and when he's up around 130 - 140 km/hr reving it in late 3rd and early 4th, it seems to bog a bit. The power doesn't seem to reach up, and by shifting into the next gear, it proceeds quicker..... I really wish to get this answered.....
I think it may just need some spark plugs, maybe wires ... but I dunno .... Also, around 1500 rpm when slowly taking off, something rattles.... I think it may be the heat shield but I am unsure! If anyone could help this would be awesome!!!!!! Thanks to everyone who reads this!!! |
It's probably got a rev limiter.

What type of engine does this guy have? Is it a firebird V6 or Trans AM LS1?
AUTO or STICK? The rev limiter does not kick in for GM's until atleast ~6200 rpm Its not the governor chip Did this get solved? |
If its a trans am tts a LT1, LS1s came out a few years later. It is totally possible it has a rev limiter but not that early. God damn optispark ;)

Nope, I dont believe that its the REV limiter.
Before checking the rev limiter, check your vaccuum lines. A hole in the hose, crack, pinch or loose hose will make your rev's rise to about 3-4RPM. I had the same problem. Also check your plenim gasket, and air leak will cause this problem. I hope i was to some sort of help! |
