Help replacing carpet...

I bought some carpet from 1aauto.com . It looks like nice carpet but the jute (padding underneath) is rather thin and only on a couple of places. Do you think it would be OK if I tore the jute off my original carpet and used it undereath? I think I'm going to try it.

Let me now what you did when you replaced your carpet. Thanks....

I usually apply a good sound deadener to teh floor (peel and seal available at lowes works very well, and is cheap, it's sold for roofing)the jute isn't very effective, you can pull the old stuff off, and use some contact cement on it, it won't hurt, just may be lumpy, don't expect that carpet to fit great either, tehre are only 2 companies making aftermarket carpet, 1 is ACC, the other is some chinese company that sells the cheap stuff, ACC fits pretty well, teh other I have heard horror stories of it being sewn crooked

OK, I got it done. Jesus, it took me 3 days! All the plastic panels had to come out, and the console, and the seats. Then I had to cut and trim the carpet, which wasn't much. I tore off, by hand, all the old jute and used that underneath the new carpet. It fit really well. The hardest part was placing all the holes and slits for bolts and stuff that stick through the carpet. Then, trying to make it all fit. But it looks so much better than the old gray and stained carpet. It's now black. I added some black floor mats also. I also changed the seats out from messed up gray ones to good used condition black leather with an electric drivers side. WOW, the difference is amazing.
So, it can be done. But it's not for the faint of heart. It's a lot of work. But worth it.

NoRiceInside:
I got them on Ebay for $481.51, full set front and back. Black (Ebony) leather with electric drivers side, 2001, very good condition (slightly worn but no tears, discoloratons, or rough spots). With shipping it was $631.51. I had originaly went to a local salvage yard that specializes in Camaro stuff. But their warehouse was dirty and the seats there were so filthy, and expensive, I figured I'd try Ebay instead. An 18-wheeler delivered them to my house. Just keep watching Ebay and within a month you'll find exactly what you want, and not too bad a price. But they are almost always in sets, front and rear. Sometimes you can find just the front set.

I need a set of nice black seats too, but I'm just getting my current seats reupholstered. I've quit looking, never see any cheap enough. You got your carpet from where I am getting mine. Doesn't sound too bad. Probably only take a day on my car to install.
