So I did the headlight cleaning.

So I decided I was going to clean my headlights since I did the whistler mod. I followed this link on how to do it.

http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=157192

I used 400,800,2000 I wet sanded them about 2 hours on each and then polished and this was my result. I used Mothers brand plastic polish.

On one light before i did the polish I went and rinsed the lights off and they looked brand new then as they dried they foged back up. The other light I didnt rinse I polished first then the same thing happend and I didnt even rinse that one.

looks like it needed more sanding, and polishing (you need to do a 1500 or so after the 800 or sand with the 2000 for 3 days or so)

**** wet sanding!! I tried doing it on paint and gave up. Always came out worse, then just leaving it alone.

if you do it right it will cloud, that's when you get the polish out (poilshing paint is a 3 step process)

Hmm, this might be 100% wrong, but try spraying a little clearcoat. I've noticed that if I sanded the carbon fiber pieces that I had covered in resin, they'd get really cloudy and nasty looking, I'd wipe them with water and they'd look sweet, but then as it dried it got cloudy like your headlights. Shot it with clear coat and tada no more hazing. Worth a shot, atleast...

the clear coat part is interesting never tried it.. I've messed up my paint some from wet sanding but polish gets it to where it's presentable anyways. On paint I've gone from 2000 grit sand paper to medium rubbing compound to swirl remover or polisher. I liked meguires swirl remover but when that ran out I got the polisher from the meguires three step crystal system and really don't like it as much but it's decent but yea just polish polish polish and it should look better.

Hmm perhaps disregard all that I just said.. one of the Eclipse's headlights is foggy like that and it's been polished to where it's a lot better but nowhere near perfect. Not as bad as yours but I was using Plast-X or something on it and I can't seem to get it as crystal clear as the other side

This is another reason I like 93-97 headlights

I think it will look good if you can get them clear though

You used Mothers plastic polish, that is the root of the problem.

I tried wet sanding once and it turned out good, but then I clear coated it and it seemed to make the paint darker almost like a black. I have no idea what happened. www.cardomain.com/id/droptop89camaro
