update: my motor rebuild
well last night was the last class. no one finished their motors cuz the teacher liked to give really long lectures and demos. all i have left to do is install my rods onto my pistons, buy a ring compressor and throw em in. then the cam/timing set and oil pump will be ordered soon and the short block is done.
as for the heads, the class for the top end isnt til spring 07. im not waiting that long. im going to try and go to my high school auto shop or even the colleges and rebuild the heads on my own time. i wanna get this thing together and sold so i can paint my car
i almost want to build a full turn key motor. i'd like to be able to run it on at least the stand before i part with it...
im planning on only building a long block with intake. basically, chevy orange block, heads, and intake, chrome oil pan, timing cover, and valve covers. fuel and ignition system wont be done by me. at this point, the whole thing is soaked in WD40 to prevent rust, and the pistons are simply resting on the rings as they need to be stored where they will end up, cuz i honed the cylinders to match each piston, and i trimmed the rings to match the cylinders.
i think this is whats called blueprinting the block. where to set up the perfect oil clearances...
