Plan on lowering it? Then do shorties or mid-length.
Don't plan on it? Ah hell, go long tubes then.

Long tubes produce more power. The tubes are specifically tuned to promote scavenging of exhaust gases, which allows for superior flow over short, mid, or standard manifolds.

Shorty headers give a good power gain, but only due to reduction of back-pressure for better flow, not scavenging.

unless its an ls1, headers are useless.

I'm not sure what your current ground clearance is, but it's generally best to drop very little, if even at all, when running LTs.

Wrong.

If you take a stock LT1 and a stock LS1, and slap a set of shorties on both, the percentage of performance gains seen are GREATER on an LT1 than an LS1. This is due to the absolutely horrid design of the LT1 manifolds, making them very restrictive. They are called "log manifolds" for a reason.

Edelbrock, Hooker, Mac, just research some exhaust setups for a 350 crate... chances are, you can get the headers to fit in a car that age no problem.

Now im pretty sure im correct, because not only have i done them, but i have dynoed them afterwards. Most importantly an 02 ss we had did headers made a whopping 1 hp more than it did with stock. don't buy headers for you ls1 unless you want it to look cool.

ls2's are a diffrent story, i did headers on an 03 GTO, iand it made about 50 more HP.
like i said, headers on an LS1 are worthless.

looking at it i think i may have typed it unclearly, torquedog i completly agree with you i was saying headers are a good investment unless you own an ls1.
