I would never pay that much for a sand rail. You would be surprised at how easy it is to spend 100K on having one of those custom made. My uncle works at a shop that hand fabricates stuff like this. It is mainly the manual labor involved and tons of precision welding. Not for me, but I understand the asking price.

He never said he actually took it out of a Corvette, just that it's the Corvette engine. It's very possible he bought it as a create engine which you still can buy the LS1's so it's possible to have a 2007 LS1 if you wanted to.
