Let's talk politics

So I was raised under a comunist regime , combined at the end with rigged democratic ellections . So I was preety much set on never to vote .

A few years back though , I was told to vote ... In the following manner :
"The liberals employ you , they give you money , so you should go vote"

So whatever ... I voted . . . . . . .

Now I didn't want to vote again . But some of my friends have been pressuring me a lot to go vote for the liberals agagin because the conservatives might win and it's bad .

Then they proceeded to tell me why the conservatives are bad . When they were done I was considering voting for the conservatives .

Sure lots of things sound bad about them . And some things sound better about the liberals . But i've been in canada for as long as the liberals have been in power , and it sucked . They don't make any efforts to protect the population from corporate bashing . My reasons for considering conservative :

- a change could be good
- they hate ****
- they would make an army , getting rid of drug dealers and killers of the street , sending them to get killed for oil
- liberals are liers
- conservatives are christians , and while i've given up that religion and don't respect it too much , they associate themselves with different religious groups than the liberals , that have their own agendas and interests . . .

Now ... i'm not convinced i should vote for them . I wanted to get a discussion here where I can inform myself some more , since I really don't follow politics , but since I do complain a lot , maybe I should go vote . . .

i wanna vote for someone who will do the following

make Canada a nuclear power and build an army so that we are not a laughing stock
clean canada up (alternative power generation)
Fix the roads....god they are in terrible condition....
Increase Canadian Pride (do something to get Canadians interested in Canada)
Increase Vacation time (canada has the least amount of vacation time in first world countries)
Cap Gas prices
Take on unfair insurance companies and prevent them from gouging the public with unfair rates.....
Stand up to The U.S. and its unfair policies towards canada (softwood lumber etc....)

im voting conservative just because the ing liberals ed us over with the scandal. Im not saying the conservatives wont do something on the side while in power, but at least they wont let us know; and spend as much money as the scandal cost itself to prove they did it. ing morons.

yes, it's true that the liberals were found to be involved in some very controversial scandels (which ultimately costed the tax payers and the government a lot of wasted $$$), but also keep in mind that they HAVE kept a balanced budget for the time they were in power and even created a surplus for our economy.

obviously you can't JUST attribute that to their leadership, it could be because of a number of things such as a thriving economy, but there's no doubt that the policy initiatives that the liberals employed contributed to our thriving economy today.

with that said, the conservatives on the other hand are promising all these grand dios schemes, such as more money for day care, more money for education, more money for "x", and generally this is a good thing, especially if we're talking about improving our education system or helping struggling families. but if they don't have a VIABLE way to pay for all of that (which harper hasn't really been clear on yet) than by far, this would be WORSE for canada.

it would send our economy into another recession, which would affect EVERYONE in a negative way, and all those promises the conservatives are making right now will probably be broken during their term in power.

i'm personally not voting, but if i were to, i'd probably vote liberal, i'd rather have a thriving economy (and a semi-sketchy government) as opposed to some moron who'll spend money as if it were water, and create a massive debt which we've JUST recovered from since 1992.

conservatives are where its at the liberals stealing all that money from us sucks

1) conservatives plan on lowering our GST from 7 % to 6% then to 5% due to the fact we pay to much for no reason there was 18 billion left over last year from over paid taxes did we see a dime of it back hell no

2) liberals dont give a about gun violence they said it was not a problem untill an election came up and now all of a sudden its a liberal concern

3) liberals are childish in the fact of the ads they are running against harper trying to make our country afraid of own army where in fact harber and the conservatives said they want more milatry base's closer to big citys not IN the cities... he wants them closer due to the fact if any thing ever happened in the big city the military is close enough to respond

4) plans on helping people with children by giving money back to them if inrolled in sports activities such as hockey or soccer

5) everyone states how the liberals got canada out of debt but any off the street could have done the amount of taxes and money we pay into the goverment for nothing in return

6) liberals are theifs.....you know how you would feel if someone robbed you well thats what they did to canadian citizens and people still want to vote for them.....how retarted is that

7) everyone says consevitives are for big buisness and going to give them tax breaks they dont diserve but tax breaks means morn money they have to give their employees raise's and we love raises

so all in all vote CONSERVITIVE

its like they say: "when you're young and don't vote for the liberals you don't have a heart, and when you're older and don't vote for the conservatives you don't have a brain."

just something i heard somewhere and thought was pretty interesting.

all i gotta say about the liberals is plain and simple.

paul martin was the finace minister when the scandal took place and millions of dollars went missing, he became priminister cause chretien knew the cover would be blown so let martin deal with it. Scandal is discovered and martin denies it all.

so what im trying to say is if he really did not know anything about the scandal then he should not be the minister of finance cause he obviously did not know what he was going. and if he did then he is a liar saying he didnt.

so in the end both reasons are bad.

Ill vote for anyone other than the liberals just for those reasons.

and just as stated before if the conservatives do lower GST than that is a good thing cause they will have to manage the money not blow it like the liberals.

I was thinking NDP but they support ******* so im not down with that.

conservative it is.

Another person who believes the surpluss. Wanna know how the surpluss came about.

They cut the money from the transfer payments they give some of the provinces. IE ontario. That is the reason why Harris had to cut Schools and Healthcare the liberals cut the money they gave to provinces so they could have a nice balanced budget forcing the provinces to deal with it.
