2008 Honda Fit is pretty cool-but marked up like crazy?
I am looking at buying a 2008 Honda Fit Sport, and the only Honda dealer in town is charging a $2000 markup. I live in Alaska, so very few choices as far as other dealers. What are people typically paying in the lower 48? Any suggestions on how to buy a car down there and have it shipped up (price included, if you can)? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Shipping costs will almost make up the $2000 premium that the dealer is charging. Plus, if you buy one and ship it, you aren't really insured of a flawless delivery, rock chips, etc.
The Honda Fit is an awesome little car, and is overpriced in the lower 48 too, so you really are at the mercy of the retailer.
An answer would be to see if they will upgrade the wheels, throw in oil changes, warranty extension. Negotiate with all of the other variables, Not the price. Things like that will help you in the long run, and will help the dealer sell the car.
Just use your head, and you should come out on top.
FYI for your other "Answerers"
Japanese built Honda's are:
Usually first or last year model of production for body style
A sport model, or special edition
A model that is already built in Japan (JDM, i.e. the FIT)
that we are lucky enough to get here
Generally on the road longer than USDM built Honda's.
So once again good luck, and good choice!
