GS300/Aristo Questions
Alright, since some of you know of my intention to bring in a Soarer next spring (they're not legal right now).... an interesting question was asked of me:
Why are you buying another coupe when you already bitch about lack of space in the cavalier?
That's a really good question. Now as much as I love the Soarer, a lot of it is because of its parts interchangeability with the Mk4 Supra. So, this raises another interesting point. The first generation GS300 (1993-1997) was decent performer despite being automatic only. It's 2JZ-GE can be relatively swapped for a 1JZ-GTE or a 2JZ-GTE (custom manifold needed for the latter of the two). Now here's the question. Since I haven't found too much luck as far as resources on the internet, what works on these cars?
Will Mk4 TT brakes and suspension components swap over?
Where can I find knowledge bases on these cars?

www.toyotanation.com is a good place to start. But I dont think you will find very much info about any of that, in North America anyways. They are not popular over here. You will have to check out jap websites/forums.

Power comes from a 24-valve, twin overhead cam 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine that produces 220 horsepower. This 1,665 kg (3,671 lbs) Lexus shows its sporting nature above 4,000 rpm. Shifts of the electronically-controlled automatic transmission (the only choice available) are smooth and seamless. Expect 0-100 km/h times in the nine second range and fuel economy is rated at a combined 11.6 litres/100 km.

Scotty, just get an SC300 and swap in a 2JZ-GTE. Quite a few people know about doing those swaps and there are a plethora of SC and Supra parts that are interchangeable aside from the fact that if any of the SC parts break, you'll be able to get new ones from Lexus rather than order those older Soarer parts from Japan ($$$).

The Soarer has the 1JZ-GTE (read: 2.5 litre, higher revving version of the 2JZ-GTE). It's twin turbo as well in the Soarer. Why would I swap in the 2JZ then?
As well, the Soarer and Mk4 Supra share a platform, and therefore most parts that I'd be replacing, I'd be upgrading to Supra TT parts.
The reasoning behind this consideration for the GS300/Aristo is space. It just so happens that the GS300 is lighter than either the Soarer or Mk4 Supra.
