Honda Timing Belt Failure?

Has anyone seen the genuine honda factory timing belts giving up after 20 to 40,000 miles? The belt was installed 01/06 with new tensioner bearings, oil seals and water pump on my 98 Accord. There is no other part failure under the timing covers. The belt is marked HONDA 14400-POA-004 and other markings of 9-2. Are these belts manufacture dated like tires? It snapped without any signs of rubbing on anything.
