demo cars

does anyone know what makes a brand new car into a demo car. The reason I am asking is i have been shopping around and some dealerships have been wanting me to buy a "brand new car" with 500 kms on it or 1200 kms on it. To me this is a used car, not new. So are there certain milage restrictions or a cut off point to make it a demo car. any feedback would be great.

Usually, the "demo" model, is loaded. They keep them until around 2000 to 3000, then sell them slightly discounted. ONly problem I'd see with a demo car, is people generally beat them when they go for a test drive.

at my dealer, the demo cars are the service loaners, the customer shuttle, and the managers' company cars

thanks for the input, but i still cannot see how dealerships can sell cars brand new with 1200 kms or 500 kms on them. They have been driven somewhere, to me this is not a new car anymore

demo vehicles are also cars that were 'executive' driven cars from autom headquaters in Canada. I know that Honda sell vehicles with 18,000km as 'new' demos. I generally will not buy demo cars due to the way they are driven.

subaru sells them as soon as they get close to 10k

as for the 500 km cars, they test them on the track after they build em. and they move em around from train to truck etc. dealer trades are driven to the dealer... so lets say u buy a car from a markham dealer, and they have the car u want in missisauga... they go there and drive it back.

slowly slowly they add up

dont buy a demo!!!! demos are the cars that the sales people drive to and from work, most only get 5-10,000km on them then they are given new cars, ive worked in many dealers and had demos, not something id suggest buying, at jaguar we used to do lots a burnouts with them, beat the crap outta them daily
