(I say short because i've heard it makes a difference) 5'4'' to be exact. I've been thinking Ninja 250, but I don't want something that i'll get bored with quickly. All information that I should know about getting a motorcycle is very welcome!

I should also say that I am really only interested in sportbikes

Ninja 250 would be decent for you. Size really does matter... youre gonna be wishing you got a small bike when it falls on you, which it will if youre a beginner. It also makes it easier to keep stable at a stop if your legs can reach the ground easily. That smaller engine is also good, street bikes are extremely powerful, and a 250 will be adequate for you. I doubt you will get bored but you can always sell it and upgrade when youre ready which is always better than getting a bike you cant handle!

I would find somebody you know that has a bike and see if theyll let you learn on it so you can test drive when you get to buying one. Go to an empty parking lot and practice letting out the clutch from a stop, its the best way and thats how i did it. Also most people wont let you test drive if you dont have a permit or license so take care of that too. Here in California the permit test is easy. Look around you can find 250s for cheap, just make sure its clean and has low mileage. anything above 35,000 can be high for a motorcycle. good luck

and dont buy a stolen bike off craigslist and get arrested like i did. it doesnt end well

There are a couple of small cruisers out there too. The Honda Rebel kind of invented that market. It's light, and would be easy to handle.

You need to figure out what style of bike you want to ride, but that might be hard to do without trying one.

The best way is to go to a big bike shop and test ride a few. See what would be right for you.

Remember: A bike is always the master. Never think you are the master, or the bike may be riding you.

I would probably set you up with a Honda electric start and probably a 100cc
