Hey, I'm new to the forum but I was hoping I could get a good amount of information on buying a used supersport bike. Fee's, insurance, registration, gear. I tried the search option, but didn't find much.

Would like to hear how much people have paid for everything total for your bike and gear, afford ability at a young age, maintenance, etc.

I'm open to any bike, but more so a CBR600. If that info helps.

If anyone could help me out, I'd appreciate it.

For a 600cc-1000cc supersport bike your looking at between $4,000-$5,000 for years 1997-2000, maybe add a few hundred bucks to the max price for years 2001 and possibly 2002.

For a 600cc-1000cc supersport bike your looking at between $5,600-$6,400, for years 2001-2002.

For a 600cc-1000cc supersport bike your looking at between $6,600-$under $8,000, for years 2003-2005.

For a 600cc supersport bike your looking at between $8,000- Up for years of 2006-2008.

These are my estimates ofcourse their are deals out there but odds are you wont find one cause its not the right time of the year. As a note though 600cc supersport bikes are cheaper then larger cc bikes lower the cc the cheaper it is, with newer bikes the price is noticible but with older bikes like 1997-2001 it is not that much off.

I started on a GSXR600, my buddy started on a R1, and my other buddy started on a ZX12R so its all up to you some people out there are scared of what the bikes capable of so they start lower cc but its all up to you your riding the bike its not riding you, you choose to speed etc...


Gear $400.00 for a jacket and $250.00 for the lid, plus $50.00 for the gloves, and your good.

LMAO, listen man dropping a motorcycle is Inevadible, no matter how good of a rider is, no matter how slow a rider goes, there will come a time in life where eventually you will go down. If you dont know how to ride at all, and is that worried of damaging a couple pieces of plastic, then ill give some advice. Go to the Ministry get the M1, then enroll in the motorcycle training course to get your
M2 and they will provide you with a motorcycle to ride with and will teach you how to ride it and at the end of the weekend tehy will test you. I wouldnt worry about not knowing how to ride going into the course cause half of them dont know how to ride either. Its $400 and its at Humber College contact the college.

I have been riding for about 4 years now and have had 5 different bikes from 600cc to 1000cc's, I like to think that im a very cautious rider, trust me and i dont ride like a pansy either ive maxed out 600's on highways on the regular. I have only been down Once, and thats because i rode over some wet leaves but that just goes to show you that you can go down really easly when it comes to weather conditions etc.. Also If a motorcycle goes down it doesnt hurt the motorcycle it'll be ok, so if it does dont sweat it get a paint job at the end of the season and learn from your mistakes...

Also If a motorcycle cant go 300 kms/hr theres no sence wasteing money on it, buy a car.

A 600 will do 300 kms per hour as far as anything less is concerned i dont know and i dont think it will come close.
