you guys read todays sun? theres an article about earth hour 2009. and theyre gonna provide a number to call if your neighbours arent participating in earth hour. not sure what the hell they think theyre gonna accomplish by tattle taleing on people. i for one dont give a . if some sort of authority comes to my house and tells me to shut off my lights ill quite clearly tell them to **** off and to have a nice day. heres an idea, lets have earth hour at 4 am next year. that way everyone will participate in it. shutting off lights for 1 hour doesnt do anything. also they mentioned something about providing fire extinguishers incase your neighbours are having a bonfire or lighting candles in celebration of earth hour. yeah right, thatll go over well with the red necks that i know who have huge bon fires. chances are johnny doo gooder is gonna get chased away with a shotgun. lol. and the kicker, they wanna provide flashlights to every home and every business. i dont know how much of this will actually happen especially the last part as the cost would be in the millions.

nice earth hour.. i drove down on the QEW.. all the local businesses and industrial areas were brightly lit as if it was day, meanwhile they try to brainwash the regular consumer into doing silly *******. Its a cheap way to empower society, meanwhile your rights are slowly taken away.

yup, we played vids and had the lights on during earth hour. infact next year were gonna have a 10 skid high bonfire and ride our dirtbikes and atvs around.

Well, they said they seen aprox 9% reduction in electricity (according to Toronto Hydro).

I think its a great idea and we don't mind participating. However, if for some reason someone were to snitch on me for not shutting off my lights (even though i pay for hydro) i will just burn their house down, then we can extend earth hour on my street as that burning house will light up the block

i agree.. the people who do participate in earth hour will think they did their part and blast their a/c on in the summer so their house always is at 19 degrees, thinking 'ah, i feel better, i turned most my lights off that one hour should offset what i use now'

i did my part, but i already try to save lighting use all year round... only one light in my room 90% of the time when im in it, its off when i leave for more than a few minutes, essentially only essential lighting for us, a/c only cool enough that i dont sweat like a pig, heater warm enough that i don't catch a cold... i can always wear a jacket inside if i have to

i was at lakeshore to watch the lights turn on... i can see.... no difference when at 9 pm all the lights turn back on.. there was NO difference! such a shame

Well since I don't believe in all this global warming B.S. they keep throwing at us, I turned on every light in my house for that hour.
And really, snitches for earth hour?? What are they going to do?? Throw me in jail.

I dont understand whats wrong with some of these people in this country. I lived in Serbia which was "communist" according to Canada & US(Even though it was a socialist party that was in charge), and we had more rights and freedoms then people do here.

For example; Cops. They are ****** and dont do but eat doughnuts and give stupid tickets to people who are barely making a living, yet two kids with parents go race and kill a cabbie, and they get a slap on the wrist.

Also what pisses me off is that street racing bullshit they had last year. If they wanted to stop street racing there would be more cops in Woodbridge every weekend.

earth hour was great. turned off the light, turned on the tv and the ps3 (call of duty, ofcourse.) and turned up the music on the comp. awesome night.
looked out my window and saw that everyone else was being non-english speaking and ignored the whole earth hour and didnt turn off their lights, i smiled and went back to killing. lol

I was at work and Im sure my mom didnt turn off any lights. After all the only lights that are on are the ones where they need to be on. So pretty much living room and thats it. My room(Where I do my Call of duty killing spree's) only has the tv and comp on, but never any lights.
